Wasp & Hornet Nest Removal in Hertfordshire

Yes. We use a professional-grade dry insecticide — there is no liquid and no drying time. However, we do recommend keeping children and pets away from the treated area for a few hours while the nest becomes inactive. Once the colony has died down, the area is safe — but as a precaution, please ensure children and pets do not come into direct contact with the treated nest itself.

Activity around the nest usually reduces significantly within 1–3 hours of treatment. The nest is typically fully inactive by the end of the day. You may see some returning wasps for a short period — this is normal and they will not survive.

No. We treat the nest with insecticide — there's no need to remove it physically. Once the colony is dead, the nest will not be reused. It will naturally break down over time. Removing it is rarely necessary and can be disruptive.

Hornets are larger than common wasps — typically 25–35mm — and are often brown and yellow rather than black and yellow. Both are social insects that build papery nests and will sting if threatened. Hornet nests tend to be found higher up or in tree cavities. We treat both.

Once a nest is treated and the colony dies, it will not come back to that same nest. However, a new queen may build a new nest nearby the following season — that would be a separate nest requiring fresh treatment. Our guarantee covers the specific nest we treat.
